I wasnt sure where to put this, so if it needs to be moved, so be it. I got this post off of Scubaboard.com, so you may have seen it already:

Hello

My name is Zach Shaw, I am PADI open water certified, I was looking for someone to train me as an apprentice to divemaster preceeding employment. I will work for 10 to 15 dollars US or equivilent. I am currently 20 years old. I am looking for long term employment. I will be available starting June or July 2005 if you catch me soon enough. If not I will be available December 2005, I can move anywhere, hablo espanol, In the meantime I'll be brushing up on my foreign languages and studying scuba and a little bit of school.

10 to 15 bucks to study to be DM? I must have been suckered pretty good. I paid to go through DM.

I agree - he has no clue and he in for a rude awakening. If you catch me soon enough??? (I will keep my opinion to that statement to myself) $10 to 15an hour - I thought a free tank of air was great.

My guess from the writing style is that English is not Zach's first language. I'm not sure what his true message is.

However, even if he is expressing a desire for a pay rate after he becomes a DM, he's due for a rude awakening.

I have yet to receive a paycheck from my LDS. I've never discussed with them what I will be paid now that I am on staff. So far I've worked half a pools session and done a single Discover Scuba since I became an actual DM. I'm not in this for the money, but for finding a purpose in diving the local quarry :D.

I have, however, already received a good deal on some equipment that more than makes it worth my while.

Dont quote me on this, but I think I was told it is 25 bucks per student, if you are there for the class room work, pool and OW session.

I also am not in this for the money, but if I can help other people find the fun in diving that I have had, and also make a few bucks on the side, then that seems like a pretty good deal to me.
