We are hosting an Earth Day Dive In and Clean Up here in Murfreesboro, TN, April 21st (saturday), 2007, at Jeff's Quarry just off I-24, 8 miles southeast of Murfreesboro.
Take I-24 past Murfreesboro to Exit 89 (Epps Mill Road) and head northeast back over the interstate. This deadends at highway 41, where you turn right. Then go about 2 miles (you'll see the green mile markers, look for mile marker 10). The first left after mile marker 10 is Ridley-Earp Road, turn onto it (only one way to turn - right) and go to first gate on the left (about 500 feet).
There will be signs about the time you get on highway 41 to lead you in.
Nice private quarry, sailboat, swimthru, cars, trucks, city bus, viz to 50 feet sometimes (usually 25 feet), cold on bottom (45-55F), max depth 55feet, lots of big fish....
and free food and soft drinks, but bring your own beer!
This is FREE entry all day long (9am-???), night dive possible, camping available on site (but no portapotti, no water, no electric, no hookups of any kind), motels located nearby (just off I-24). Those coming from out of state and who want to camp, need to contact me skip (just pm me), for access to the site Friday afternoon evening (FREE diving friday night), and/or Sunday too if you want to stay over for another day of FREE diving (all day sunday).
Murfreesboro has a dive shop for airfills (not hyperclean, no nitrox).
The plan is to auction off some t-shirts and dive gear donated by local dive shops to raise a bit of money for The Coral Reef Alliance's efforts to protect the reefs, and to get together and clean up the quarry (around, on, in and under the water!).
