Your drysuit will be perfectly dry.

Rockboots do not in any way affect the dryness of the suit. They simply make it easier to walk around on dry land in it. You can skip the rock boots and just put the fins over the neoprene booties. In fact, I'm starting to think this is a better plan than using the boots.
The gloves are just for your hands. Even if you are using zip gloves your suit should have come with standard latex seals. Just throw on some regular gloves.James

Dont know if I totally agree with this part. True, they dont have anything to do with keeping your feet dry, until you step on that first sharp rock. I wouldnt chance wearing my dry suit without some other kind of foot protection. You could always just go get a pair of Converse tennis shoes. I hear all the cool people are doing that these days.

Yea, that's why they are called "rock" boots :).

The crushed neoprene socks are really pretty tough but yea I'd try to protect them until I got my fins on. But this bit of sage wisdom comes from the guy who spent 20 minutes trying to unfreeze his gear by dunking before giving up? ;)

That's too bad about the gloves- because you missed some awesome diving. We did two dives, about 30 mins each. The vis was unlimited, but the water temp was 36f. Most of me was warm, but my hands got so cold, I would have sworn that my gloves flooded, although they were indeed bone dry.

Anyhow, the first dive was to the Flamingo- the vis was so good, I could see the pipe/swim through and beyond it, I could see the Flamingo. It seemed so close, that I thought that Tina had added another boat to the quarry.

The second dive was to the marine truck We were lucky to find it, but even luckier that we saw a paddlefish! All in all, we did two great dives- it's amazing how the whites, blues, and greens all blend to form indescribable vistas. Thanks to Duane for letting me know about this trip.

I am wondering how this went today. Anyone back yet to tell the tale?

Oops, guess Tony beat me to the post!

That sounds awesome! 36 degrees is just a tad chilly for my delicate little self though.

Glad you had a good time!

Nope, no one yet...

We met up with Andy and Joanna- they were as pleasant as always and they didn't mind if we used their hole. When we left around 3pm, the class was still going on, but it was going well. There were a few reg free-flows, but I think that everyone got at least one dive and everyone was smiling.

There was 8" of ice as of this morning and there will be ice diving this weekend, according to Tina. If there is a lot of rain over the next few days it might be a walk-in from the shore instead of a drop through the hole - but that's not so bad (and a lot less work).

I've got a class this weekend and can't make it but I've heard from a bunch of folks who are planning on going and one of our guys is going to run a PADI Ice class, so it should be a good crowd.
