I came across this today. It's from 2000 but was just recently posted.
Warning: If it's legit, and I have no reason to suspect otherwise, this is basicly a video taken by a guy who perished on the dive. Not for the faint at heart. Also there is some adult language at the end.

I'm not sure what conclusions can be drawn from this. I doubt very seriously he planned on doing a 270 foot dive on an 80. It sounded to me like the first two sounds was a "help", but I would think if he was really in trouble at that point, he would have been repeating help more than twice.

Wow not realy sure what to take on that video. First were was his buddy second what did he get tangled on?
I dont think he was saying HELP, I think it was just his reg. I have a Apex atx100 reg and at times I get a buzzing coming from it when I breath out. I took my 2nd stage to the LDS and had them take it apart and found nothing. The next time I used it I was with Reefraf and showed him as well.
The only thing I could think what happened is
1- wrong mix and got below MOD (we all know what can happen)
2-BCD broken and sunk and could not drop weights
3-should of not been in the water in the first place

I know a lot of us here have quite a bit of experience under our belts, but let me say this for those rookies that have joined our board...if you are ever in this situation, drop the camera and do what you can to save your self. The camera is replaceable, no matter how much it cost.

It's almost like he intended to do it -

Somebody recovered the camera. Seems there would have been an answer to what the entanglement hazard was. The people watching the video had contact with someone who filmed them watching it...???

That's one hell of a video to watch someone die.
Makes my skin crawl.
It looked to me like he was trying to shoot video & got too deep.
Descending at 30 meters per min. is equivalent to about 99 ft. per min.
At 81 meters He was at or around 267 ft.
He was narked out of his mind by then & that's when he looked at his computer.
At 91 meters He was at or around 302 ft. and I can't believe He hadn't passed out or had any air left.
It did sound like he was saying help a couple of times but, that was when he was still fairly shallow. After awhile you could tell it was just his reg.
I think the entanglement was their way of saying he was hitting the bottom.
I know a lot of instructors and I've seen them make some mistakes but, luckily none like this.

I was under the impression this was the Blue Hole in Belize. Turns out it was in Egypt. I guess thats why I couldnt understand what they was saying.

Not too sure if it was a he or a she. The video after when they found the body...wonder how long after the accident that was taken. I guess that is why you never get overly confident or too cocky. As soon as you think your good....watch out.
