Finally made it to RBD this weekend. Other than a long drive and only so-so weather, the diving was fantastic. No flow rate to speak of. Clear water with tons of fish. That was a nice suprise. Did 2 dives on Saturday and 1 this morning. I really enjoyed RBD. It is easy to get in and out, the conditions were good and the company was fantastic.
Note to self: YOU NEED MORE PRACTICE WITH THE REEL!

Did it still have 35+ foot of vis? I just wondered since the rain has not been in that area like it got to CB over the last week and what is on the way mostly to CB area.

The vis was very good. I would say 35 feet wouldn't be too far off.
We kind of joked how there was almost a reverse flow. The water was getting sucked into the cavern. It was that still.
PS- I loved the view when you are on the way out, and the opening looks like a big window and you can just sit and see all the fish.
PPS - What would have been in the water swimming that would resemble a rat? It was swimming under the water.

Have you seen the movie "The Cave"?
They live in RBD, too!

Well whatever it was, rat, possum, all 4 of us saw it. Swimming underwater with the long tail and little feet paddling as fast as it could. It went into a little patch of brush stuff. No one tried to go get a better look.

Yeah, I almost chickened out after seeing that thing.
I would say the vis was about 25'-30', water temp was 58f, and there was no flow to speak of. You could swim right in- heck, I should have back kicked in just to say that I did it.
I saw more fish in one dive than I've seen on Lake Michigan all year. Of course, I also saw more creepy cave creatures than I saw in Lake Michigan all year. :D And the ducks(??!!) were scary looking too.

Most likely what you saw was a muskRat. There are 2 of them that I know of. It is kind of nice to sit at The Rock and watch them come in. There are osme shelves in there they will sit and eat fish. Did you just do a cavern dive? Have been about 75-100 feet in on mainline and could see the glow also have been at teh reeper and seen the opening plain as if it was a NFL cavern zone.

Yeah, I think it was a muskrat- it was odd to see it scurrying around exactly unlike a fish. I walked out on the concrete path, trying to sneak up on it, and I saw a small splash in the water- it probably saw me and was submerging to get away. I think they breathe air, so I guess I should just try to wait it out... :D

Unless he had a little set of doubles on his back...I hear they have an incredible SAC rate.
