I'm thinking of taking the TDI Advanced Nitrox in May when I head down to Akumal. Has anyone taken this course? I'm curious to find out what people think of it and what it really covers over a standard EAN class.

Thanks for the thread - I have heard of the advance Nitrox course also but never quite understood what it is either. Looking forward to replies.

The Advanced Nitrox course is an entry-level technical dive course. It includes more in-depth theory than you get in the EAN course and also includes more rigorous dive planning. You learn to use all oxygen/nitrogen mixes up to and including 100% O2. I usually teach Advanced Nitrox in conjunction with Decompression Diving. I believe that is what most Technical Instructors do. There is a lot of overlap and it only makes sense to combine the two courses.

No pun intended of course?

I took these 2 courses from Dale this year and would recommend both them and him, even though he failed to appease the Lake Michigan Weather Gods this last weekend and our trip got blown out.

:D

Hey Dale, when do we get our shiny new TDI cards anyhow?

I had a little problem with the faxes to TDI. They did not get all the applications, so I only got half the cards back the first time around. I have them now, though; they came in while I was at DEMA. They will be in the mail to you tomorrow.

Wonderful!

Now I can quit showing my PADI cert cards...

:D

Dale, do you have any trips booked this Sunday? If the weather's holds I might have some divers for ya...

I don't have anything yet. What do you want to do? We can go out if the weather is ok. Predictions now look good.
