Spent 6 hours yesterday crawling along the bottom of a 'farm pond' looking for a homicide victim...still cleaning my gear and unfunking it...it was the nastiest stuff I've been in to date...no hazmat, but nasty...

Oh wow - yuck. I hate to ask but were you successful in your search?

I was wondering the same thing. That sounds interesting though.

Negative...but we proved where the victim is not...then today my supervisor says, "Lou, you're going to the LGS Rapid Deployment Search and Rescue/ Recovery Course" and I say, "Cool, when?" he says, "Be there, Thursday morning with all your stuff".
I'm still cleaning all that funk from Monday...but mark my words...I'll be there and be there early...at least its nearby, so I won't have to be getting up too early...

Well clean it good, so you can gunk it up again!;)

Post a report on the course. I like to hear about that stuff.

You are getting to take a great class and it will be some hard work but worth it all. You will have fun.

I'd like to hear about it too. It sounds interesting. Got a question, do you ever get spooked when you do happen to come up on a victim suddenly? I've always wondered how you guys felt when having to dive looking for victims.

Got back last night...I'm still smoked...GREAT CLASS!!!...'trip report' later this week...

Scubacat...in good vis its not a problem...one night while acting as tender and watching my diver's bubbles, a large short rush of bubbles came to the surface, followed by the diver's signal that he had found the victim...all but one of my recoveries have been at night in zero vis...I still yell when I run into a body or grab a leg...it is spooky...also when doing a search in zero vis I just close me eyes and concentrate on what I'm feeling for...

Cheers!!!

Butch and Tammy kept us busy...interesting course and I enjoyed the 'hands on' training, I got in the water seven times, and again enjoyed the tasks...nothing like doing everything with a blacked out mask in zero vis...the retrieval of the twine, wire, zip tie and fishing line off of the milk crate was 'fun'...lots of good info...great folks to go through the class with...the cargo pocket on my wet suit was a big hit along with the Wal Mart bag suit donning technique...Butch and I were the only two with UDT shorts...
