Anybody played with this? I dove with a guy recently who used one but he used it for vision correction.

They claim a vastly improved field of vision. I'm not sure if this is a good thing or not. Personally, I'm most comfortable diving in my black skirt low field of vision mask without distractions from the sides.

Sometimes though, I find it annoying that if I want to read my analog SPG I have to un-clip it from my hip because I can't see there.

Anyway, these things are big and bulky but if you prefer more natural vision they promise great things. I'd be really interested in hearing any reviews on this that I can pass on to students.

If it is the thing I'm thinking of, They make you look like the Sleestak on Land of the Lost.

How much are they James?http://www.landofthelost.com/images/slatch.jpg

I saw them at OWU but I do not know anyone using them, yet.

You're thinking about the right thing. They are cheap, only $200 ;).

That is cheap. We have lots of cutomers pay even more than that for Rx masks.

They work as advertised, so long as your eyes are the right kind of wrong. People with good vision will need contacts in order to make them work, which is a hard sell. Personally, I liked the idea of the magnifying effect but my eyes are mostly okay except for a little presbyopia - so I'm one of the "not eligible" crowd. A big hazard is the lens material - it's soft and easily damaged, even by unapproved defogs. They come in a honking big case that comes with correcting lenses to clip on the mask when you're not underwater, along with wrist mounts, retaining straps, etc. I think there might even be a decoder ring and propeller beanie in there, somewhere, though those might be add-on options. All-in-all, a solution that creates as many problems as it solves for a large number of divers but some folks just gotta have one.
