Got to the parking lot just before 9 am and met DR and JL there. Today we had a boat to help us with all the gear and tanks since we planed to go to and maybe through the restriction.
Dive plan was to just go through the restriction at 280' but when we got there JL had problems and we called the dive. There was about a 4-5# cat at the 200' level that had to make a mess of all the silt he was sitting on when he swam away. The restriction flow was kicking real good even though there was not much flow comming out at the entrance and vis was 30+ through out the system. We had a slower swim then planned to get to the restriction so that added some time but still had a great time.
For those of you that know me, Yes I had problems with clearing my ears yesterday and that was fun trying to drop down and into the entrance and then down the line a the pit. Boy that was not fun, it has been a long time since I had problems like that.
Swam main line with 50% then switched to 28% @ 70 foot then to 16/45 at 160. Did the oppesit on the way up and 100% at 20 for 5 minutes. Max depth was 283 with a dive time of 84 minutes.
Just after we got back to the surface and all our gear put away and on our way home it started raining about 5 minutes, had not even hit D Hwy yet. This was fun, I got to drive there with rain most all the way and then home with rain most all the way but we had a dry spell when we were at the launch ramp.
Tell next time.

Good to hear you're all OK. Did you stay for the clean-up?

The cleanup was today. There were 6 of us there. Alan Garrett, who said to say "hi" to SLIM for him, dived with Doug. I dived with Jason, and there were a couple dudes from Arkansas.
We cleaned up--area wasn't bad, but we got a few trash bags full, plus a little bit of debris from the spring basin.
Got some nice attendance prizes from NACD, and had excellent dives in similar conditions to what SLIM described from the day before.
Was good to get back in that system!

Hey Slim,
Yeah, I know this thread is a year old, but reading back thru it left me with a question and I hardly ever see you.
On the ascent breathing 16/45 (39% nitrogen) and you get to 160 and make your switch to 28% nitrox (72% nitrogen), do you worry about the Isobaric counter diffusion (inner ear thing) when you get slammed with the n2.
Not questioning your dive plan, BTW, just curious.

Nope not at all, I fogot to mention that it had a small amount of He in it. Just for that reason.
Maybe just maybe later this year we will get the time to get back int he water again. I plan to be doing much more next few months since I iwll be slowing down at the marain and get time to go and teach some truly hard and fun classes.

OKay, I dont think Slim really works at the Marina. We stopped by friday night, he wasnt there. Sopped by about 2 on Saturday afternoon, he wasnt there. They said he would be there around 3. We went, had lunch and came back around 7, and they said he was gone already...something weird going on down there...

Well bob, I do not live out there. It is a JOB. They even told you what time I would be back. I was there at 7:30 am on the dock and around the marina until about 1 when I took a dive out. Got back stayed until 5 and came home. That was a short day.

Oh, I can vouch that he works there. And, I know that he is there for lots of hours on days he works...
I have seen him get there at 7:30 a.m. (We see him drive by our camp site.)
Then, at 9:00 the first dive goes out (after they have setup the boat, fitted customers, checked paper work, and done class work for any students)
Then, they come back (around 11:00) and unload the boat, refill tanks, and check the books for the afternoon to see what the second setup has to be.
At 1:00 p.m. the second boat goes out. It gets back around 3:00 p.m. where the boat again has to be broken down, cleaned and stored. The staff handles their gear after they take care fo all the rental gear.
Of course tank fills and sometimes boat gas has to be taken care of.
Then they go home UNLESS there is a night dive (which SLIM quite often is the one running). Then it goes out at 8:00 ish and back at 10:30 p.m. or so. On night dives tanks are usually left until the next morning when they have to hustle to take care of that before the next mornings 9:00 goes out.
And, for extra fun, they have been doing that for two boats most of this year.
But, it's all worth it. They get to meet people like me and the girls to make it all worthwhile. ROFLMAO

They made it sound like you wouldnt be there until 3, so I figured thats when you was starting your day, I didnt want to bug you as soon as you got there. Thats why we held back a while, then decided to pop in again. Anyway, it was worth it. That blonde in there is pretty hot.
I'll catch up with you one of these days. Main reason we stopped by was to maybe buy an O2 analyzer, and my buddy was looking for a copy of the IANTD tech encylopedia to buy.

We do not have any O2 anylizers in stock but mine is around somplace out there most of the time for you to borrow. I have only 2 of the Encylopedia's left before I need to order some. They are $75.00 pluss a few extra more to ship. If you know you will be down I can deliver it to save the shipping.
