Howdy ya'll -

We're talking about doing Lake Wazee the 2nd weekend in September (8th-10th) - anybody who's interested is welcome!

If you haven't done Wazee before, it's a darn nice place to dive for a quarry. :) But really, it's actually very deep and clear, has some interesting underwater geography, lots of fish, and an underwater "forest".

Plus, it's a cheap weekend - camping is available as well as hotels nearby.

Some of our group want to tour the Pioneer brewery on Friday also, so I imagine that there will be "beer diving" Friday evening...

So anyhow, come on up! The more the merrier, and we know how to roast a mean marshmallow.

We almost meet again - I have plans to go the weekend after you.

The last time we were there, we found a new place to camp- it's not the place right next to Wazee with the trailers, but further north- cheaper, lots more tent space, and it's not right next to the highway. They also have a great deal on firewood for $5. PM me if anyone is interested and I'll scare up the details.

Hi Tony -

We've got to stop almost meeting like this.

:)

Too bad we'll miss you....

The other camp site - does it have better facilities???? (gosh, maybe there's flush toilets and a shower!!!!)

It's not managed by a biker couple, is it? If so, I know them...

At the campsites in the park itself, the facilities are pretty primitive and the camping is limited.

There is a trailer park/camp ground right outside of the park that has running water and flush toilets, but is mostly ATVers and trailer camping. The tent camping area is limited and noisy at night because of the highway traffic.

The place I was thinking of has running water, flush toilets, $5 deals on firewood, and they even sell ice cream at the check in. It's about 15 minutes north of the Lake itself.

I'll have to look this all up when I get home...

Hey there - glad to hear you'll be up there! We're planning on camping right by the lake. We have some people going up on Thursday evening to snag a couple campsites (2 or 3, depending on how many people can commit to being there...)

When are you coming up, and what were you thinking of doing?

We would probably drive down Friday night or Saturday morning - we're less than an hour away. We really don't have any hard plans - I usuallly don't know what I'm doing tomorrow let alone two weeks from now. If the weather looks good we'll camp...if not we'll just drive it a couple times.

My favorite spot in the Lake is the south east shore - from the last boat launch to the beach area. There's a few weed beds and trees along the way and I see a lot of fish. I would like to see the cabin cruiser that they sunk near Sherwood Forest too.

We'll have to talk when we get a little closer to the date.

We ran down to the lake last night to check it out. Water temp above the thermocline was 72 degrees - it was pretty hazy though. I would put the viz in the 15 to 20 foot range. We didn't go below the thermocline but if things are normal the viz will be much better.

We dove about dusk - probably not the best idea I've ever had. It gave us a chance to work on navigation skills though.

BTW - the campground was only about 1/2 full....odd I thought for Labor Day weekend.

Are you still planning on coming up?

Howdy!

Yes indeed, we're still going, and our little group keeps expanding. There will be a pile of us up there Thursday PM to stake out some campsites. We're expecting 15-20 people at this point. You're welcome to come camp w/us if you like - plz let me know ASAP so we know how much space we'll need. Today we're trying to compile a final list for this.

It'll be fun to meet you!

We're planning on diving Friday AM, then touring the Pioneer brewery in the late afternoon. Sat & Sun, more diving.

Hope to see you there! Let me know your plans!

We had some things come up at home that will prevent us from camping. We plan on being at the lake around 9 am Saturday morning though....
