In case anyone's interested: Mermet looks pretty good. 20' vis in the shallow water, 30' below 35' deep, and > 30' vis in the cold water. Should be good for the weekend.

Thur 8/10: still 20' vis shallow and 30' below thermocline, didn't take a look deep. Still looks pretty good.

Don't know. Mark and Dennis aren't going. Last I heard, he had one spot open. I think several staff members are on the trip, but I'm not sure which ones.

Hey guys - spent last Saturday and Sunday (19/20) diving Mermet. Vis pretty good overall. Around the class platforms it dropped a little but generally 15-20'. Dropped on the 85 foot platform on Sunday morning and could see it very clearly from 50'.

When I rolled in Saturday morning, they had a guy on oxygen by the office. Never heard the direct story, but overheard a couple people saying he went deeper than he should after something on the bottom, ran out of air, and nearly drowned. Anyone else know for sure what happened?

I did hear something, but I dont want to speculate. I will say more when I have the facts. Assuming, I ever know the facts.

I was there Sunday. The dude was with the Polish folks from Chicago. I guess he went down after his fin and ran out of air just as a DM got to him. They came up a wee bit fast but both were Okay. The diver continued diving the rest of the weekend.

Thanks for the info Trever. I wasn't sure where that group was from. Glad to know they came out okay. Good to get facts to learn from.
