Anyone interested in this? I've posted it on 2 of the LDS's forums but haven't
had much response.

Can't beleive it, when I started diving, if someone offered a boat diving trip like this I would have JUMPED at the chance to go.

Ft Randall, SD is located about 4 1/2hrs from Omaha.

Aug 12, Ft Randall, SD.

I'm going for sure. I have room for 3 more in the Avalanche & on the "toon" I just ask that
you chip in for gas. You can get a dbl room around there for about $50-$60 per night.

Figured on leaving around 4 to 5 pm Fri the 11th, dive Sat & Sun am, probably leave around
noon. 2 tanks each should be enough, Heartland Scuba will have a compressor up there
to fill tanks Sat night.

Any ?, shoot me an e-mail. terryatheesedotus (@) (.)

You don't have to enter the spearfishing tournament (but it is only $15), you can just dive
if you want to! It's about a 4 1/2 hr drive, less than Beaver Lake but so is the vis.

There is a dive shop out of Sioux Falls that helps sponser this event called Donavoan's Scuba. They have a compressor set up in Pixtown year round and you can get tanks filled there too. They will also have there boat there called the Scuba Spirit, I will not be fishing this year because I didn't get a fishing permit. I may stop in just to go for a dive or two though.

You can purchase a SD fishing permit on-line.

Aug 11 - 12

Spearfishing trip to Ft Randall went pretty good. We missed most of the rain but storms
were around all weekend. Vis wasn't the best 15' to 17' max. Water temp 78 - 79, no real thermocline
up there, 77 @ 55'.

A few Walleye's, Smallmouth Bass & Carp were shot. Largest carp 18lb, Walleye 2lb 11oz. I shot several
carp, biggest around 10lb, 1 Smallmouth 16".

The maiden diving trip for the "toon" went great, it works a lot better than some commercial boats I've dove
off. Just had to be cautious when anchoring (30 mph wind on Sat).

Spearfishing is something I've always wanted to try. It would be cool to live where you could do it all the time. Some of the divemasters in North Carolina spearfished and caught their dinner.

It seems like this tournament would be a good time. Thanks for the report!
