Howdy ya'll -
Bet you thought I'd fallen off the face of the planet. Not so.
I've been out of commission for quite a while with ear problems and I finally got the problem diagnosed properly. And it only took 5 Dr. visits. Turns out I've had a sinus infection going on for a couple months. I wonder if the 4 doctors who couldn't figure this out will give me a refund... hah.
At any rate, it should be cleared up in short order and I'll be ready to dive!
What wrecks ya'll talking about doing? I might be able to fill up the rest of the boat....

Hiya Ken!
Hmmm maybe we could do a couple dives (or 1 deco dive) on the Wisconsin...
If we're doing the whole day on Saturday, I know Dale can take us to just about anything we like...
Carferry Milwaukee is pretty cool...
Wrecks I'm not interested in doing include the Lady Elgin and the grain barge...
Any comments and/or suggestions?

Groovy, goyim. :)
I'll ask a couple of friends about it. Who knows, maybe I can scare up more people for ya'll on your Sunday dives.
As for "heavy deco", if I plan a lake dive that exceeds an hour I freeze my tuchis off, so that's not going to be an issue for me. But if we plan to do deco, we'll probably only do 2 dives rather than 4.

I've spent most of my life around the ocean. I grew up at the Jersey shore, went to college in Miami, worked as a mate on head boats, and even ran a charter boat. And I've allways gotten sick! It seems to have gotten worse as I've gotten older but I finally have found the answer: scopolamine. It was one of the best days of my life when I discovered that patch.

Considering how squeezed a wetsuit is at 130' it dosn't have to be very cold to be uncomfortable.

It is best not to put too much faith in visibility and temperature reports, even mine. The temps and visibility change, literally, depending on which way the wind blows. The temp at 100 feet and deeper, last weekend was 10 or 12 degrees lower than the temp at 70 feet. Also, remember that a wetsuit is nearly completely compressed at a depth of about 70 feet.

Probably still in the 50's, though everything depends upon the wind. We were out last night and the topwater was in the high-70's, bottom temps in the mid-50's, visibility was excellent and the waves were gentle rollers to about 1 foot and calming with winds a gentle 2-4kt from the SW. If the wind picks up from the SW, Sunday might get a little chillier on the bottom but it's looking good...

I did some research on the lake temperatures today, and I found that the bottom temps at the Wisconsin were 43f with 40' of vis, although I'm bad at estimating the vis when it's more than 10'. :D For the home audience, we were able to get in one dive, but we caught the edge of a huge storm just as we were finishing the first dive. After that, the mooring line parted and it was too rough to hook the other mooring. Thanks goes to Dave and Kurt, who tried to get us a second dive, but had to call the dive due to safety reasons.
For my first and only dive, I spent 20 minutes on the deck. I poked around a little in the bow and then headed to the stern. The Wisconsin is a wonderful wreck and she certainly puts on a show every time.
It was a pleasure meeting Bill, Rick, and Vitale, and of course, Bob and Ken were good to have around again. Thanks for the good company. Lastly, thanks to Carla for bringing the cookies. :D

No thanks to me for letting you use my gear? That hurts.
I, too, got in just a single dive on the Wisconsin today. But mine was planned to be a single dive. With my trusty dive buddy theskull in the lead, we went down and did some penetration on the Wisconsin. I think my Smart Z thermometer is off a little bit.I was getting 35 degrees at 120 foot. My VR3 was telling me 42. Minor deco was accumulated, and that was a good thing. The poop was just starting to hit the fan when we surfaced(on the wrong mooring line.)
I got in two dives yesterday, before the heat got the better of me.

Excellent dives!! All 4 of them. So glad to have been invited and able to go. Nothing but good people involved all around.
And my computer recorded a bottom temp of 41 F on the Wisconsin. A slight correction, Bob--we did indeed ascend the wrong mooring line thanks to my being in the lead - BUT - we surfaced on the correct mooring line thanks to the strong surface current pulling at our boat until the 2 mooring lines crossed each other. Ya live right, and some times ya get rewarded with a break!

No thanks to me for letting you use my gear? That hurts.
Bob, please accept my apologies. The BC you lent me saved the weekend. Thanks for that and the good company.

Excellent dives!! ... Bob--we did indeed ascend the wrong mooring line thanks to my being in the lead - BUT - we surfaced on the correct mooring line thanks to the strong surface current pulling at our boat until the 2 mooring lines crossed each other. Ya live right, and some times ya get rewarded with a break!

Hey, thanks, now I don't feel so bad doing the wrong crane ball on the Speigel Grove ;-)

Hey, thanks, now I don't feel so bad doing the wrong crane ball on the Speigel Grove ;-)
A couple tips for this, which Bob and I remembered AFTER we completed the dive:
*Tie a bandana or a strobe light, or clip a clothes pin to the mooring line at the bottom before you leave it so you can recognize it when you return.
Always glad to make others feel better by sharing my many mistakes with them. ;)

Howdy boys -
Glad you enjoyed the cookies, and didn't blow any on Sunday AM. :)
That was a really fun weekend, despite the heat, and it was definately fun to meet everybody (except Tony, who I saw but who got away before I could say hi...)
Any more trips planned?
We might do Lake Wazee the 2nd weekend in September if anyone is interested....

Is Captain Crunch our new board member called "idiver"?
Whoever it is introduced himself here on the board and was on our boat, but didn't give his name.

I know that. What I don't know is who is idiver? From the "Wass Up" Intro Greeting on this board. He was on our boat, and I'd like to say howdy properly, so I would like to know who he really is!

WOW. 100 replies in this thread. This has got to be, like, the longest thread in the history of this board. We're getting right up there with Scubaboard.
Wish I hadn't 'a said that.
Sorry for the hijack. Ya'll carry on.

Nope. So it's either got to be Gregg, Michael or Rick.
Fess up, idiver. Who are ya?
EDIT: I know who it is - just read his profile.

No, but I was lurking on the dock. My hubby is Kurt, aka Captain Crunch. Since the boat was full Sun AM I just came to pick him up.
I was standing by the boat talking to Beth McGinnis - 5'8", long dark hair, trying to avoid loading gear... :)

Is it Greg?
BTW, I found out why my BC hose failed: there was a notice on the Seaquest site about a run of defective hoses that failed exactly like mine. It's getting fixed for free.:D
