Headed to Mermet

We're headed to Mermet June 5-7 with the kids. Are there any suggestions for camping in the area? We would like to find a place that is kid friendly - one that might have a place to fish and swim. I know that fishing is out at Mermet - does any one have any suggestions?

You can camp and swim at Mermet itself, or you might try Massic state park in Metropolis. I've never camped there myself, since the wife usually comes along and insists on indoor plumbing. She's on Glen's case to finish the new facilities.:D

[do it easy]

I've camped there once- tents and sleeping bags. It's an old gravel pit, so expect hard ground. It helps if you bring an air mattress. There is an 6am and 8am wake up train to get things going in the morning.
