A good time was had by everyone that attended our trip to Cerulean.

Now, its time to focus on our next destination, Haigh Quarry in
Kankakee Illinois.

Haigh is a pretty good sized quarry, with some very nice top side
amenities that include grassy set up areas, 2 covered docks and also a
beach entry. You can even call for tank pickup from the dock and a
cart will pick up your tanks that need refills for an additional buck
or two.

Under water, you will find a 33 foot cabin cruiser, Marine Dump truck,
mining and stone crushing equipment and a LARC 5 amphibious vehicle,
all without going any deeper than 50 foot, so you can get the most of
your bottom time. Fish species include bluegill, crappie, bass,
paddlefish catfish and even a few northern pike.

20 dollars gets you in to the quarry, and just look for the
MidwestScuba banner. If you havent attended an Explore Midwest Diving
even this year, please make sure to have your releases signed. You can
also donwload a copy of the release for Haigh Quarry from their web
site. http://www.haighquarry.com/

Unfortunetly, Mike and I will not be able to attend this event. We
will be checking out the recently sunken air craft carrier Oriskany in
Florida. Midwest Scuba Divemaster Allen Goerl will be spearheading
this trip in our place.

Happy diving to everyone, and we look forward to seeing you at more
EMWD events through out the summer. You can check out the schedule at
