I have a buddy who lives in Detriot. I live in the Chicago area. We want to get together some day and dive. Does anybody know of any lakes or quarries we can dive that are between Chicago and Detriot? Gilboa is to far for a day trip and Haigh is to far for my buddy. Anthing in between?

I've heard of Gull Lake, but I haven't heard if the conditions are very good there. Any lakes or quarries in southern Michigan or northern Indiana? How is France Park?

Kalamazoo is about the halfway point and the place where I was living when I stopped diving...the inland lakes in the area are mostly worse than quarries. Just south of Kalamazoo is the town of Portage, used to be a couple of dive shops there that might be a source for some suggestions for local dive sites.

The eastern shore of Lake Michigan has some decent diving, particularly the coast between Holland and South Haven. Not equidistant, but not a bad split and the diving is worthwhile. Google should have some information about the Southwest Michigan Underwater Preserve.

Try Lake Cora in Paw Paw.
