I got a new Isotherm for the Bonne Terre Mine trip. Unfortunately, it was more semi-wet than semi-dry. :( The neck seal would let in the balmy 58 degree water whenever I turned my head just right...thankfully the water warmed up and there was very little transfer of cold water any where else. It made the hour long dives very doable. We are working on making the neck seal a bit more sealed!

Cool on the new toy - but sorry to hear it was not as dry as it should have been. I have been struggling on what I want to get in the way of a drysuit. I don't like not being able to dive the year around.

I have a BARE 7mm semi-dry that is a great suit, but it isn't a drysuit. With even the best semi-dry you will get that inital rush of cold water and there will allways be some circulation.

Got some duct tape that should work. LOL

That is why they call it a semi dry and not a DRY suit. To me a semi is just another wet suit that has should have a good seal to help reduce the amount of water exchange.

We did a fair amount of research before we bought this suit - I have head many comments about disappointed semi-dry (kinda-wet) suits. The Isotherm came with some good reviews - quite a few people said that they would stay pretty dry with the exception of minor seepage around the seal.

The next time out we will use a collar off an old hood to try and snug up the neck seal - that should improve things quite a bit. She stayed fairly dry and warm as it was if she was careful she didn't turn her head the wrong direction.

Well, even in a dry suit, you can get seepeage by turning your head the wrong way. The thing with semi-dry is. . . . . . . .it is also semi-wet!

You just need to gain some weight...then the indentations in your neck will not be as pronounced and allow water in.....

Unfortunately, that's why I needed a new suit in the first place:mad: ...so I don't plan on that continuing...but it would be a good excuse, wouldn't it.:D

I guess I am a step above the rest because I don't get the rush of cold water. I end up burping mine around the neck or I would never get down. I do get some seepage around the ankles but I could care less.
