Well I took the plunge into the world of the professional diver. I had my 1st Dive Con class tonight. It looks like a really good group - there are 5 of us. So about mid July I should officially be an SSI Dive Control Specialist. It would be mid June but I have a conflict with the houseboat trip.

My Divemaster course was probably the best single class I've taken. Really built up some skills, knowledge, and situational awareness in the process. Three months sounds very reasonable. It usually takes six months with our shop since we do a great deal of practical work with actual classes rather than simulations. I spent alot of time in the water with a number of good instructors working with every type of class.

Hope you enjoy yours at least half as much as I did mine, and that you get some good experience along the way.

Enjoy,

I had my 2nd class last night - I am enjoying it more than any other class I have taken. Lots of good information and knowing a little more about diving than I did in the beginning it so much easier to absorbed the material. Interesting to listen to other divers and their level of expertise.

Tommorrow is class #3 - looking forward to it even though it involves an hour's dive one way.

Remember to start that one going into the current!

I can see light at the end of the tunnel. All done with the classroom and pool work. We took the test tonight and I got a 92%. All that is left are the open water dives and observing as many classes as we can.
