Anybody up for doing this again? Maybe if we start planning it earlier in the year, people can make the arrangments and maybe we can have a bigger turnout than last year. As always, we can put everything up to a vote. Any ideas or suggestions?

PS - I am NOT bringing Pizza.

I'll bring pizza if you pick a weekend I'm available.
How about some time in late July through August so everyone can dive.
Some place warm like Table Rock or Cerulean.

The hard part is the location. Table Rock is good for KS and MO, but sucks for the Chicago crowd. Cerulean would suck for the KS and NE crowd. I'm dying to get to Gilboa but that's a long haul for a lot of us....

I dont have a problem with anyplae. Its good to be centrally located. I like the idea of Table Rock for 2 reasons, we did the event last year at Mermet, to be closer for the folks on the east side of the midwest. So now we should do it on the west side. Maybe next year, we can do North side. Second reason is with Branson being right there, the non-diving spouses and family members will have plenty to do as well.

I wonder how many folks we can pack onto SLIMs boat? :D

How many can you pack on my boat. Well, lets just say that you can try all you want. But I say how many getws to go, my license and my works boat.

Gilboa, ROFLMAO BTDT, several times. Is getting boaring. Maybe do 2 of them. one for the Eastern division and one for the Western division.

Great Barrier Reef. That wouldn't suck for anyone!!

I'll bring the Conch pizza. :)

All we need is a generous sponsor. Do we have any members who own websites or have other conspicuous signs of wealth.

Yeah, my wife's been dying to see Andy Williams, Yakov Smirnov, and that Japanese country fiddle player.

Seriously, it does sound like a plan. The sooner we reach a consensus, the better.

Sounds like fun - I have only dove Table Rock once. I need to get a couple more in

If the dive is at Cerulean I will try and make it (working OT out the butt). But if it is Table Rock then I will probably pass.

Is Table Rock that lake that was created by flooding a valley?

I heard that there was a whole town that was abandoned down there, if it's the place I'm thinking of....

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but I believe Table Rock, Bull Shoals and Beaver lake are all created by dams along the White River. During the creation of Table Rock lake, the town of Oasis was flooded. I have heard there are still some buildings submerged there, but they are in bad shape, and penetration is not a good idea. SLIM would probably be the best person I know of on here to give any more details, or corrections to my info.

Norfork was also a project that overtook homesteads. (1941-1945), (TRL was 1954-1958). It is in the upper White River basin and drains into the White River. It, too is a U.S. Army Corp project.

There are a few homesites that can be dove there. The one that I have been on had foundation, slab floor, chimney, well, etc. but no walls, roof.

All of these are hydro-electric reservoirs (but they have flooding and recreation considerations, too, which can be conflicting requirements).

Along the White River (up to down river)

Beaver Lake (1960-1966) (1120 ft.) (-14 ft.)
Table Rock Lake (1954-1958) (915 ft.) (-11 ft.)
Bull Shoals (1947-1951) (654 ft.) (-7 ft.)
Greer's Ferry (1959-1962) (461 ft.) (-6 ft.)

On the Norfork

Norfork Lake (1941-1945) (552 ft.) (-9 ft.)

edits - to include current pool conditions

Ahh yes, the lost city of Oasis. I heard that it was about 100' deep. I hope that Scubaba was posting elevations?

I know a guy, who knows a guy that met a pirate who that had a map tattooed on his back. Sounds interesting, no? Although I don't think that it would be a good meet up dive. I don't mind driving to dive, but I don't know my schedule until after it happens, so go ahead and plan it. I'll try to make it.

I hear that all the time. Out of doing about 50 or so dives more on the plus side, I have not found the town Oasis. I have found a piller to the bridge that went across long creek. I have done a wide amount of research on this and evevn talked to a Corps person that worked at moving and burning stuff there when they moved the town. I don't think it is there. All I hear is I got a buddy that knows a buddy that has been there. Funny how I have not found it and it should be in about 150 feet of water when lake is at power pool wich is 915.0 feet above sea level.

You mean there's more? It would be fun to look for it- who knows what treasures await when we find it- we might find the legendary silt of Ponce de Leon- rumored to be able to turn any drysuit a permanant grey color. :p

Ahh yes, THE Corp. Worked under them for about three years and never did figure out their system, or if they had one. The only thing that we could be guaranteed was that it was going to take three weeks to get anything. Even if it was bought locally.

I have only heard rumors about finding Oasis. But I have talked to people who claim they have dove on the old city that was flooded in Lake Norfolk. Again, I dont know anything about that.

Yes, power pool elevations, specifically. I was going to put headers on and make it a table, but I am not too familiar with formatting in these editors. Values without units can be pretty meaningless, eh?
