I'm new to this board, found a link to it from scuba board and I thought I'd drop in to see how it feels.

I see many of the regulars from over there visit here and the waters look good from here.

At any rate I live in Central MO and enjoy diving the waters in our state, have never been in the ocean and I'm not sure I want to but I may give it a shot in May. I try to dive every weekend and have met several of the regulars from scuba board and I hope to do the same here.

I'm curious however, I see SLIM talked about here, is this the same guy we called Slim who piloted a pontoon boat during Project Aware at Table Rock last year? He had a daughter with him and seemed to know quite a bit about the lake? His air consumption was so good I could watch his pressure increase the longer he stayed under, is this the guy???

Glad you found this board. Got alot of great people that hang out here that dive local waters.

Hi and welcome to MWD.

I am a former regular on the other board. Thank goodness James developed this one.

Yea, I stopped trolling for members in the MWMD forum a while back but the thread in question seemed to ask for it ;).

My goal was to have a place for us locals to chat without the 2000 postss a day to wade through and the bickering that goes with it. So far, the waters have been pretty calm as internet forums go....

God I hope you're not headed to the Caribbean. One look at all that clear, warm, blue water and you'll get vertigo for sure. It'll be like a NYC'er moving to the plains....all that wide open space and clear water, well that could just drive a guy insane. Jump into the big blue if you want, we'll be here waiting for you with some mudhole therapy. I figure it will take at least 20 divess in <10' vis and a thick wetsuit to straighten you out again...

Yes, you should dive an ocean at least once every other year or so. It's overrated, but so many people think that is the ONLY place to dive that it gives you a great frame of reference.

Looking forward to seeing you in Table Rock this year.

Welcome. AHHH, Mr. SLIM has many talents on top of being an all around nice guy.

Yes a very nice thing about this board is that the mindless, repetitious bickering is absent. It also has a nice homey feel since we all have more in common than that international board.

Unfortunately, I haven't gotten to dive with many of the folks here. I have had the pleasure of diving with SLIM. I hope to build that list up here very soon.

Big ol' thanks to James for the labors here...

Jim
