Seein' how it was Tuesday, and Tuesdays are made for diving, we slipped over and tested the waters at Mine La Motte. (Didn't even get lost getting there). This was our first time there; very interesting site. Water temp was 47 and maybe a bit cooler in the open water. Vis was disappointing at about 10'. I'd be interested in hearing what is the best vis found at this site?? Since it was our first time there, we took it slow and easy and found plenty to look at. Gotta go back.

10 foot viz is not disappointing at Mine la Motte! It is a blessing.
The water is that cold there year-round, but at least they overcharge for entry, have no facilities, and the bottom of the lake is totally filled with beer cans and other trash.
On the positive side, you may find some jewelry dropped by partying teens on the lake side, and you can do some overhead on the other side.

If you spent as much time at Pearl Lake as I have, you would think Mine La Motte was a blessing. Better No facilities than dirty, unkempt ones. 10 foot vis is still vis. Beer cans.....well....beer cans are...(thinking)... like tiny, artifical reefs.
Sorry, I kind of liked Mine La Motte. I guess if I dove it every other weekend like I do Pearl I would think differently. The one time I was there though, it was great to be somewhere different.
The grass is always greener ........

10 foot of Viz, for that place it is like almost clear salt water. I hve been there and seen maybe 15 foot of vis at the most. Once inside the lines can get very strangly done and dangerous. I have heard that they might have cleaned it up some.
