Well it started out as a bright sunny day, tempms in the high to low 80's and no wind or clouds in sight. If you think that is how it happened then you got another thing comming about today. It started out when I left home with temps in the mid 40's a few clouds and looking good. As I got closer to SPringfield I saw some dark clouds but did not look like rain. Turned on I-44 and as I got closer to Lebanon I saw what looked like grey coulds well about 5 miles West I ran into a mix of rian and sleet more of a misty type. Got aobut 5 miles East of Lebanon and out of the stuff. Pulled up to the Pulaskie 911 center to sign in and there was JC. Got all signed in and headed down to RBD.
As I wsa getting stuff togather it just started to look like it might rain. Now remind you all of us there thought the rain if it did come was not to be until late afternoon. WJH pulled up and then a few moments later DDB came along. As we were starting to get into our suits it started to sleet some. Temp was starting to drop. As I drove by the bank comming into town the scren said it was 34*. We all get in our suits and I look over and DDB is in a wetsuit. He got bigger ones then I do. We get all things ready to go and disscuse the dive plan on more time.
We all get our gear on and head ot t he water. One last disscusion of dive plan and off we go. I run the reel in and leave a deco tank at the mainline where I tie in the reel. DDB leaves his at the 20 foot markk since it was O2 and mine was 50%. I am using a stage to burn the gas up since the tank needs to get hydrod and I am going to take a bunch in later this week so I thought to just use it up. As we are go through theupper tunnle and start down the staircase, DDB is right behind me. We get into the lower tunnle and make it to just past 500' arrow. DDB turns the dive. As we are comming up we pass WJH and JC right around 70' with them going down. We make our way slowly to burn up deco so that we do not have a mandatory stop. DDB is leading and I watch him iwth his skills, he has good form and awareness, he goes from side to side of the upper tunnle exploring. As we get out he tells me that there is a differance form these then the NFL caves he has been in the last few times. He is just taking the cave at a slow speed and never been in the lower tunnle but just peeking in before. This time he got ina little ways and next will get in further.
As we get out to take a SI it is getting colder and the sleet is gone but with some drizzel. WJH and JC come out several minutes later and we all chat. DDB starts to get cold since he was in a wetsuit he decides that he better get dryed off and call it a day. After a SI WJH, JC and I do a second dive.
The second dive goes great. I got to lead in (seems I get to do that all the time) the plan is to run a reel to the jump at the top of the staircase and then when we come back to go up to the celing. That dive runs great. Sometimes you might find a lost cave arrow or two up there but this time it was no luck. Go back on down and I reel in the line and we slowly head out. Get back the end of hte mainline and I pull my 50% tank and the reel and we head on up and out. Get out of the water and it is still drizzeling some I leave my suit on and get the majority of my stuff put away and then get out of the suit and finish puting gear away. We all head up to sign out and be on our way.
First dive with DDB max depth of 145' TDT 28 minutes and water temp of 50*
Second dive with WJH and JC max depth of 88' TDT 28 minutes water temp of 50* also.
Can you belive that, both dives had the same TDT WOW how many times will that happen? You never know.
Until next time catch you all later.
