Anyone know anything about diving in Destin? I'm planning to do my IE there March 25, 26. I need to know about the conditions I can expect because I want to get plenty of training in the same gear I'll be diving in there.

I've called PADI but they don't have any info on this IE yet. I can't imagine they will be doing the IE in the Destin Jetties as the conditions there are variable so I'm wondering what else is close to there and divable with reasonale conditions. Vortex maybe?

I'm figuring I need to train in a 5-7 ml suit. I've asked in the I2I forum on the other board with no response.

Anybody have a clue?

Vortex is not very close to Destin. The Jetties is a decent site, shore dive. There are several good dives a short boat ride out--couple wrecks and sunken bridge debris for artificial reefs, mostly in 50-70 ft. of water. Most of the shore diving around there is just miles of empty sand with lots of sand dollars on the bottom.

Water temp should be around 70 F this time of year. Decent conditions and pretty good visibility.

Enjoy.

Just talked to the host shop. Looks like the OW portion will be in the springs, Morrison if its diveable, Vortex if it isn't.
