This weekend was the coldest winter days the Branson area has seen in a number of years. The air temp was between 7 and 30 F all weekend, and we started off with a snow storm that left 4 inches of snow on the ground and some ice to beware of while walking to and from the dive entry points. Water temp was 45 F at all depths and visibility was about 8 feet at all depths—light made it all the way down to 80 feet deep, but there was a great deal of hanging particulate in the water that hurt the visibility.
We made dives at the dam as well as a couple shore dives from nearby sites that were new to us. One of the new ones is one I look forward to diving many more times in the future. The lake level was way down so I got to see some new, to me, (huge) trees on our deep dive to 150 feet near the dam.
