Well, 7 nights in Cozumel and wow. 86Deg F every day but most of the time it was rainning. for the 7 nights I did 4 Ocean dives and 2 Cavern. the Ocean dives were wonder full but the only problem was they didn't have a wet suit that fit me for the first 2 dives. the ocean was a worm 80deg but the cold rain that was coming down was freezing. the first 2 was to the Wall witch is a nice 80ft dive and slowly climbed our way back up. the 2nd was a reef call Paradise. this was my favorite dive site down there. more fish and plant life for the eyes. the kool thing was the way the corral grew together witch made nice tunnels that you could swim threw. some areas were very tight to were i was the only one to go threw. (thanks to the B/P and wing set up). we had about 20 divers in our boat but broke into groups of 4. nice and small. in my group the was not one diver that dove regular. they had no idea what they were doing. up/down giving the thumbs up signal all the time?????? its like they forgot everything + they would hit the reefs all the time.. the cavern dives were not even better. talk about hitting the stalagmites and stalactites. at times they were fall down from divers hitting them. they stirred everything up and it made the dives very hard to see since i was the one in the back. they were touching everything dive masters told them not to what dint they under stand. anyway i had a great time on the dives even though some things happened.

for the last 2 dives my dad wanted to give it a try and so did my mother in law. so the too DSD and joined my on a 2 tank dive in Coz.this by far was the best dive. the dive instructor let me do everything for my dad as he watch over us. i took my dad down nice and slow and got his buoyancy and we had a great dive. on the way back up from our dive he let me control them at the safety stops and at the surface, I just think of this as a good way of helping me work my was to instructor( some day) and i really enjoyed it. I got tons of pics but i went threw and pick the best ones.

we stayed at Secrets Excellence in Cancun. nice resort , great food and wonder service.
I had still had lots of fun

Chris,

What kind of shape is Coz in topside? Did you see much hurricane damage? I had a trip booked for last December but the hotel was flattened and my dive op's boat was wrecked.

As for diving with inexperienced divers, I've found that is the rule rather than the exception on the "cattle boats" there.

in town it looked great but once you get south of town it gets really scary. there hotels were nothing is left. i have one pic were the wall of building is the only thing left. if it was concrete it might still be there. . its really bad but there building left and right. and the natives are really showing good progress.

Never had a problem with my dives. But then I go as a group and kind of prove myself to the DM's of the boat on the first day. Just get stuff ready and be able to get in the water fast and jump in. Ask questions like dive profile. Is it a seasaw, square and things of that nature. Seems that after the first dive or the first day, after I have a good repore with the DM's that I get to do my dive as long as I am kind of with the group. I do have to keep an eye on my group since I might have like 6-10 divers in my group but the DM runs the dive. I normaly have the same DM's for the week so that helps out some aslo. Then there are the ones that can see your ability and after they have watched you dive, they just know. Remember the a DM is job and they are responsabel for all divers on the boat. They have rules and if you follow thier rules and ask them they will let you do alot. Reember SOLO diving is not permited but that does not mean you can tag behind and below the others and keep an eye on the DM so he does not have to keep the eye on you.

thats what i did. i just keep my distance to were if something went wrong i could get there quick. most of the time i was a good 20 ft to the side.. the divemasters on the boat told me just do my own thing but just follow near. on our first dive i my sac rate was a little fast (I was getting cold from no wetsuit) had to work to keep worm. and I finnished my dive while they continued on the reef..

this is why i alway have my saftey sausage and reel. and i had to use it since
i was at the surface by my self . it made it really nice for the boat to find me.

after a couple dives with one of the divemaster he was going on his own and asked me to buddy up with him. so he could show me more of the reef with tunnels. but since i was with my dad i told him i am going to stay with him.

but in the cave they had a strict rule of no more than 7ft so i had to follow the line
