Please excuse my ignorance - I'm a rookie. Where are Cerulean, Martha's Quarry, Penny Royal, and Pearl Lake? I know where the others are.

Nothing wrong with Rookies...we was all there once.

Marthas Quarry is in Tennessee

Pearl Lake is in Northern Illinois.

What was planned for the Bonne Terre Mine trip?

How many dives are there planned? and for how many days, or is it just the 8th?

We could probably make it - is anyone else planning on going?

I"m considering it.

April 8 could work for me, too. Is anyone with experience going, or do I have to dive trails 1 & 2 if I go with the group?

I've done 1 and 2 but that was in Janurary of 04 so I don't think it counts anymore.

It does if you have the logbook page with the official mine stamp on it.

It's been about that long since I've dived there as well. It's like this: Bonne Terre, $195 -- Roubidoux, FREE; Bonne Terre, $195, Cannonball, FREE. Tough decision when the local caves are diveable!

I thought you had to have done it within a certain amount of time for it to count...like 2 years...

I once had a several year gap that they accepted. Probably depends on who's checking the credentials that morning as well, though.

Was also there once with a cave diving buddy who only had his IANTD Tech Cave card on him, and the girl in charge was reluctant to let him dive trail 1 because she had only seen PADI and SSI cards! LOL!

We are still trying to finalize all the details. I have dove trails 1,2 and 4, so I plan on diving whatever is next after that. As soon as we have all the "official" info, I will post it here for all the world to see.

I haven't been there yet but would like to make the best of the 600 mile trip. They have a five dive package but I think I heard that it is tough to get them all in in one weekend.

Any word yet on this? I'm curious to know if I should call ahead to make personal reservations or if I can tag along with your crew.....Thanks!

The time is drawing near to kick off the Explore Midwest Diving
season, and first stop is beautiful Bonne Terre Mine in where else,
but Bonne Terre Missouri.

Bonne Terre is requiring a 3 dive minimum, for the price of $195. You
will need to contact Bonne Terre to make your reservation. You can
reach them by calling (314) 209-7200, and make sure you mention you
are with the Midwest Scuba group. You will also have to tell them if
you dove Bonne Terre before. They have set trails that you will be
diving, and if you have not been there before, they will start you on
trail 1. If you have been there before, they will put you on a higher
numbered trail. The staff at Bonne Terre Mine will also let you know
what time you need to be there. Sign up soon, because these spots
usually fill up quickly.

Please make sure you have releases filled out. You can download them
from www.midwestscuba.com. We will have some there as well, but if
you can get them done early, that makes it easier on everybody. They
can be dropped off at either Midwest Scuba or Y-kiki. And remember
once you have them done, you are taken care of for all Explore
Midwest Diving destinations this year; however, the dive sites
themselves will have their own waivers for you to sign.

Any question, feel free to contact Mike or me.

We look forward to seeing you there.

Bob and Mike

Just got signed up - they had a slot open Sunday morning to dive so we'll dive then as well. It hurts to pay $520 for a weekend but right now it just great to get wet!

Makes sense now. I've been there once and was glad I did it. One word of advice: rent your weights. It's worth the $$.

I would normally rent weights when flying, but why here? Is there quite a hike?

I think I counted 66 stairs last time I was there, and then the trail down to the dock. Which isnt bad. But after the dive, going back up....

I've said it before, and I'll say it again...I wish they would have kept a few of the pack mules around.

Sounds a lot like the Valhalla the abandoned ICBM missile silo near Abilene, TX 85 steps down/85 steps back up; but the only way to get the t-shirt is to do the dive (the t-shirt is kind of ugly too).

I made a note of the other dive weekends maybe I can get Terry to get away for a weekend and join you guys.

. . . but the only way to get the t-shirt is to do the dive (the t-shirt is kind of ugly too). . .

Bonne Terre is all about the revenue. If you do the dive you can BUY the t-shirt. And if you don't do the dive you can buy the t-shirt. (At least they're really nice looking t-shirts.) And either way, if you want to use the showers you have to pay 50 cents.

Good dive, though. Very interesting, great viz, and the warmest water around for open water divers in the winter!

We're planning to head towards St. Louis Wednesday night - we figure on driving until we're sick of it and getting a room. Should give us a day or two to goof off - go to the arch and (if it's still showing) check out the underwater 3D IMAX movie that is out.

Who is for sure going to be diving at BT this weekend?

If you are going to the DUI Days @ Table Rock I'd be happy to dive with you or anybody else on the board.

I plan on diving the DUI Suits on Sat & then doing a dive or two by the "Stairsteps" on Sun am.

Anybody want to join up on Sun?

Yep Yep, one of those brain %art deals. Guess I'd feel kind of silly running around TBL looking for the big DUI tent.

I have the tickets for the 22nd. If anyone is interested, you can order the tickets for the dives & dinner in advance for $5 instead of $10 @ the door/lake. Order from the DUI web site. They also list several dive shops that are selling tickets in advance. You can also down load the required liability/rental forms, have them filled out in advance, no waiting in line.
