My wife is considering a trip to see her sister in Cleveland this summer. Anyone know of any diving out of there?

I would be interested to know too. I was told there was very little there, mainly because of the ship traffic.

We were there for a few days, several years ago and had a great trip. Went there from Cincinnati and stopped at the Football Hall of Fame on the way. Then in Cleveland, Rock & Roll Hall of Fame had a big John Lennon exhibit going at the time, The Gravity Games were going on (like the X-Games) and they had bands and stuff playing. Alice Cooperstown, Great Lakes microbrewery, Jacobs Field though the Indians weren't in town that weekend. Everything was within walking distance. It was a great few days with 2 teenagers.

One unexpected surprise was we got to tour a submarine. The USS Cod is turned into a museum there and you can tour it inside and out.

Sorry, I was just recalling a really fun trip!

My parents live in the area, but I haven't researched any diving out there. Gilboa quarry is relatively close.

I do have to put in a good word for the Great Lakes Brewery. All delicious beers!!! Strong and well balanced. Pick a few cases when you go there!

I don't know about the diving there but the Walleye fishing is GREAT.

Hey James,

I'll probably have the pleasure of visiting my wife's relatives in Cincinnati and Dayton this summer . Maybe we can plan a mutual escape.

Might be a possiblity. The only charter I've been able to find out of Cleveland needs 4 to get the boat. 2 more and we have a trip!

We'll only need them for the trip out.

They need to make it until at least the start of the last dive...captains have a nasty habit of stoping the dives when they come up a diver short.

2 concrete pylons on the back. Call them doubles and tell the captain they are doing some extended range stuff. Way extended!

Here is the only charter I've been able to find so far. I'll keep an eye out for their 2006 schedule to appear.

The day trips are pretty good price, $85 or less.

This one is expensive but sounds like a load of fun:

Yeah, that 2nd one looks good! When are you thinking of going to Cleveland?

Just a thought right now. No firm dates planed. Can I say we have 3 interested parties then?

Don't pencil me in yet, I would be going to Cincinnati, which is about 100 miles from Clevland. Might be a logistics problem. Let's talk again when you decide on a date, I'd love to dive Lake Erie.
BTW, Mermet is open on Saturday, Bob and I and hopefully a few others will be there. Bob says he's doing a wreck class, but Glen dosn't know anything about it, just that a few divers will be coming down.

I am interested, but time frame will be an important factor.
