Explore Midwest Diving

My LDS runs a series of "local" dives that are basicly just a way to get together and try some of the local spots. It's called Explore Midwest Diving.

Here is this years list of events:

May 7 - Dive Cerulean
June 4 - Haigh Quarry
July 2 - Table Rock Lake
August 6 - Pennyroyal
September 3 - Blue Water Lake
October 1 - Mermet Springs
Two possible additional trips include:

Great Lakes Charter - sometime in June
Bull Shoals Houseboat - sometime in August
These would be excellent opportunities for members to get together (and maybe even drum up some new members :D ). There is no cost other than quarry entrance fees/air.

I can't make the first one as I'll be in Akumal, but I'll try to get to as many as I can. I'm adding these to the Calendar.

This program is led by Terrence Cordes at MidWest Scuba, and I have volunteered my time to this project as well. If you have any questions about these trips, or suggestions for future trips, drop me a line and I will definitly bring it to attention.

Can you give me some more info on these sites, i.e. location...some of them I know where they are, but others I have no idea. Are all of these in MO? I want to dive as much as possible, I don't like being above water :)

DC is in Kentucky. Page is down right now but it used to be here http://www.divecerulean.com/. This is actually a heated quarry which is why it's the first destination.
HQ is in Illinois. Check our dive site database for more info.
TR is in the Branson area. I believe you are already familiar with that one.

BWL is in Oronogo, MO (near Joplin). Check our dive site database for more info.
MS is in Illinois. Check our dive site database for more info.
GL's are them big bodies of water between the US and Canada ;).
The Bull Shoals Houseboat trip leaves out a Marina in Arkansas.

As we look forward to a great summer of local diving, I have begun blocking off rooms at hotels near our upcoming events. Below is a list of events, the hotels, number of rooms blocked, the date the rooms are blocked off until (HELD UNTIL) and contact information for each of the hotels. We are blocking off rooms similar to how wedding parties block off rooms... we don't make the reservation just put the rooms on hold. Each person is responsible for making their own reservations.

If you plan on attending any Explore Midwest Diving event you are NOT required to stay at these hotels. We have blocked off rooms for your convenience, but you are free to stay where you please.
