Hello, my name is Steve. I have been an avid diver since 1974 when I was 16 years old. My wife and oldest son are also advanced O/W divers. I am a past member of the Delta County (Mich.) Search and rescue dive team. Also hold a specialty in Equiptment Specialist and Ice Diver.
I have dived in Lake Michigan, Huron and Superior as well as quite a few inland lakes and quarries. I also have dived in John Pennekamps underwater park, and Ginnie Springs.
I hope to be able to learn and contribute here.

Welcome aboard, Steve. Please do contribute.
You can start by inviting me to dive with you in Lake Superior this Summer. Only kidding (not really).
What kind of diving have you been doing lately?

Hi Steve, Welcome! Your mention of getting certified at 16 brought to mind my nephew. I don't know this particular nephew well, as he lives some distance away, but I was recently told his parents bought him scuba lessons for Christmas. Any good advice I can give a 16 year old (I know it's been a "couple of years" since you got certified at that age, but maybe you have a pointer or two?). Thanks!

I don't really have any advice except keep him interested if you can...my oldest son got his Jr. Open water diver cert at the age of 15, he is now 25 and still an avid diver. my wife, oldest son and myself are planning on diving the Keys this fall and hopefully my youngest son (19) will get certified so he can go too.
