Hi, All!

I joined the ScubaBoard forum a couple of days ago, and was promptly invited to join this forum, too, so here I am! I'm a new diver, just PADI OW certified last August, and then had surgery, so I can't wait to dive in again this spring. I live in eastern Nebraska, and could use a dive buddy, if anyone is interested. I also like canoeing, geocaching, reading, and church activities. Glad to be on board!

Hi Bottomdweller, I bet it's cold on the bottom in Nebraska; of course, it's cold on the bottom here in KY too.

Welcome to the board. Enjoy.

From the sounds of your post, you might be "Beth from Canfields"?

Welcome, even if you're not "Beth from Canfields"

Welcome! I live in Lincoln and do quite a bit of freshwater diving. Haven't done my ice cert yet, so unfortunately haven't made it out once everything froze over. In any case, welcome aboard and drop me a line if you need a dive buddy!

Hi BottomDweller-

Glad you found us.

GeoCaching huh? I haven't done it myself, but from everything I've heard and read, I think I would be into that. My daughter and I stumbled upon a letterbox cache while on a walk once. It intrigued the heck out me. I think when I get a little extra cash, I might get a GPS unit and start looking for cache.

Welcome!

Welcome BottomDweller!

Nice to see another Nebraska diver on the board. I'll be sure to post when my hubby and I are planning any local diving.

Wow, thanks for the welcome, everyone! I'm busted, I see - yes, Terry, I am Beth from Canfield's. I guess my writing style is pretty recognizable! Steve, I'm hoping to get my ice cert., too. Husker Divers in Lincoln has a new Polar Bear club that goes ice diving, but you have to have your ice cert. before you can join them. Capt. Caveman, the diving around here takes place near Kearney, NE. in some sandpit lakes. Lake MaConaghuy sees some divers, as does Harlan County Reservoir. Underwater World Scuba Center in Omaha has their own rock quarry near Malvern, IA., too. And Julie, geocaching is a lot of fun. Geocaching.com has a ton of listings and good explanations of the hobby (I refuse to call it a sport), too. And there are some scuba-only caches out there, too. You have to be a diver to access them because they're chained to some bottom structure or are "virtual" caches, where you have to e-mail the words on an underwater plaque or something like that. Thanks again for all the replies, everyone! Maybe we'll buddy up and dive sometime!
