Our World Underwater will be held Febuary 24-26, 2006.

For those of you unfamiliar with this event, it is a large trade show centered around Scuba. Travel reps, resorts, equipment manufacturers, training organizations, dive shops, etc are all there under one roof. There are also some seminars and workshops offered on things like Cylinder Visual Inspection, Digital Photography, DAN training and more.

The show is at the Donald Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, IL.

Visit the website www.ourworldunderwater.com for all the info.

I agree with what theskull said about DEMA...I would rather go dive than go somewhere and talk about diving.

I'm hoping we can make it - diving is great but so is looking at new toys. I would like to go to the Shedd Aquarium too.

I'll be there - haven't missed it for a few years now. I just hope they're not combining it with that outdoor sports show again - that was not a good thing.

And yes, I'd rather be actually diving too, but this is a fun show. They always have interesting presentations - anybody catch the one on the nudibranchs last year? Very cool stuff. This year I see that there's lots of info on Great Lakes diving. John Chatterton & Richie Kohler are also going to be there.

So anyhow, I'm in. We're going down with a few friends & making a weekend of it at the Hyatt. You might find me hanging out around the Loves Park Scuba booth.....

I've got some workshops to attend so I will be there on Saturday, at least. Anybody interested in diving into a beer or two between the show and the film festival?

Then what are you doing here? LOL

Seriously, If I lived as far away as you did, I wouldn't go either. But since its only about 40 minutes away, it is worth it. Also, I help out there every year in one way or the other. Some years I work in the pool, Some years I have manned the Illinois Council booth. This year I'm sure I'll be quite busy at the booth for our shop.

What workshops look good this year? I am planning on doing the Interspiro (AGA FFM) repair class there.

Classic.

How often does it need updating? 3 years? I think I'm still good for another year if that's the case.

Howdy all -

So Our World Underwater is coming up pretty fast - who's going to be there?

I'm going with a couple friends (hubby's band booked a gig, so he's out). We're driving in Saturday AM and staying overnight at the Hyatt.

Juls? Captain Dale? Reefraff? Ken? Anybody else interested in beer diving Saturday evening?

;)

Knuckles it is.

At this point, we'll have me + 2, Steve, & Juls and whoever else we pick up along the way. Whoever gets there first try to get a bigass table. :)

This will be fun.

I will be there on Friday and Sunday. I have a conflict with work on Saturday so I can't make it that day.

That's too bad. Are you doing a "mini-booth" like you did last year for the Enterprise? If so, where will you be set up?

I guess I'll have to catch up with you on Sunday then.

Yea Me and my girlfriend (she's certified too) are going. I know one travel agency that drop out because they combined other sports with the show. I certainly hope the other sports aren't there this year and AQUADREAMS TRAVEL INC. comes back to OWU.

It isn't with another show.

However,

I do think there is a boat show there this weekend too. Separate show. Not combined. I think the OWU people were trying to down play it. I don't think it will be an issue. It certainly doesn't affect OWU in regards to the longer format resulting in more expense for the booths. I don't know if SKOAL will have a booth there this time around or not :p !

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.

Every frickin' body has backed out on me this weekend.

There's a small possibility I might show up on Sunday for the afternoon, but it looks like I won't be attending the beer diving (or anything else, for that matter) on Saturday.

I can't believe it. Whatta bunch of wienies. |:(

I'm still up for beer diving. Am I the sole survivor? Is anyone else still in? Do I have to do the drinking for all of you? If so, too bad you won't be there to watch. It will probably get entertaining!

The preliminary beer diving rounds were held this evening at Knuckles and they were a roaring success. A group of over-dressed salesmen and their spouses (some other convention cluttering up the place - losers) tried to stage an invasion but the divers remembered their training and stopped, thought and then grabbed the cuter gals and drove their husbands back into the lobby where they were reduced to drinking in the hallway in front of the toilets. Victory may not always smell sweet but, tonight, second place smelled like a urinal block.

Despite all the hype, I didn't pull a Bode and I will be advancing to the medal round on Saturday. I have no idea how we're going to find each other in a sea of divers but I'll be wandering around in an effusively ebullient red Hawaiian shirt with white hibiscus and carrying a beer in one hand and a beach bag full of promo materials and swag in the other.

We don't need no stinkin' nametags, I'll buy a drink for the first person that walks up to me and says, "You must be Steven."
