I was wondering if anyone has any experience with an Ikelite housing? I got our son one for Christmas for his dslr. I didn't order the port yet - waiting to take his camera in with the lens he has and get some suggestions on which one.

Any and all opinions would be so appreicated.

Never used an Ikelite housing but you can't beat they way Ikelite has taken care of my strobe! It should be a great housing!

My wife has used one for her Sensorex (?sp) 995 Nikon for the last 3 years. It is easy to install the camera and hook up the stobe. There are plunger buttons to work EVERY function on the camera which means a lot of buttons. During our last Coz trip the end of the button that turns the camera on broke off when I was installing the camera. She still hasn't gotten around to contacting them about replacing it so I can't comment on the service yet. She says the red filter is a necessary addition for pics in good lighting where the flash sometimes washes out the subject. The whole rig is very slightly negative on bouyancy.

I’ve had my Ike housing for just about 2 years and haven’t had any problems with it. I did have a cut sync cord that I sent to Ike to be fixed. The sent me a new one no charge. Great service. I would recommend asking Ikelite what port would work best for the SLR/lens combo.
