I finally got my logbook caught up, and I am sitting at 351 dives. I was really hoping to pass the 400 mark this year. It doesnt look like I am going to be back in the water again until the Jan 1st dive at Mermet. I guess I am shooting for 600 at the end of next year.

Now that you have a good deal of experience, look more to the quality of each dive and the additional skills acquired and sites experienced rather than the number in the logbook.
Dive often, dive safe, and enjoy each dive!

Hey Bob, relax and enjoy the sport. It's not about putting notches on your gun.

Don't give up on 2005 too soon; the year is young, the water is clear, and the crowds are gone. I hope to get in at least 8-10 more dives.

You bring the pies and we could get Skull to hang at RBD in Jan.

The pies will be at Mermet on Jan 1st. That is all I have ever promised, and anything or anyone that says otherwise is fibbing, and this isnt the time of year to be fibbing, because Santa is watching.

Didn't even know Cerulean was open in the winter! What kind of water temp do you have now? What water temp can we expect in mid-January?
I'm up for a trip down there in January.

Not to mention the government.

It's not HOW many dives but the quality of dives and the experience one gets from diving.... I know one diver that has logged over 800+ dives and NEVER been below 110ft... Not a bad thing but is that enough for judging one capable to handle any situation at deep dives... What if he accidently dropped to 140ft or 150ft? Could happen very easily... Would he panic at those depths? Possible, very possible. I, for one, don't like shadow dives and "shallow dives" for me end at 120ft - it only gets better with depth... I'm comfortable at those depths, always wear doubles tanks/ double regs, been trained to safety dive to 180' although PADI tells us American divers only 165' while the Europeans rank it a 180' for their divers... Same course, different region. While in Coz I was dive bombed with divers from above dropping down into my territory (@80ft) without as much as a "sorry" to their faces... Make my diving anywhere from 130' - 170' and I'll be happy. At those depths chances are no one has been there to spoil Mother Ocean...
