My buddy with the boat is off shipwreck hunting today with his shiny new sidescan sonar. He says he's got a hot lead on an old wreck... I'm waiting for him to call when they get back tonight. If they really find it, we're diving it tomorrow! Too cool!

He did find two other wrecks before - the Kate Kelly and the Lumberman.

I'm not at liberty to say which wreck it is (or of course WHERE it is), but I just thought I'd tease ya'll a bit.

I'll keep ya posted if and when anything develops!

new stuff sounds like it would be fun to dive. I am hoping to be at Haigh this weekend. One friend of mine is sick, and probably not going, and I just received a call from the other guy. I need to call him back and see if hes canceling as well.

yep...looks like I am land locked...the other guy just bailed on me.

Nitrobabe~

What type of sidescan sonar does he use? I checked on one that is made by Interphrase that is a dual front scanning sonar capable of bottom scanning up to 100ft.... Which isn't a good limit for shipwrecks

Dunno..... Kind of silly, I spent quite a bit of time admiring it, but I just didn't notice who made it.

Nope. The day they went out it was pretty rough and they didn't accomplish much. I don't believe that they've been back out wreck hunting since then.

Hopefully they'll be out again within a couple months... maybe I'll get to go along this time...

PS - I still don't know what kind of sonar - my friend is in Cozumel right now, the dirty rat. (No, I'm not jealous....)
