Anybody going to be at Mermet this weekend? I would like to try and get my weighting right with my new undies and my dry suit. I have been using sweatpants and a sweatshirt, but not its getting to the point where I will be using my Andys undies. I am hearing they area lot more bouyant.

I'll be there working with my new LP121's. I suggest that we adjust our bouyancy by eating pizza till we sink.

I'm there, then. I will probably head down Friday night, and be ready to go bright and early. If you are interested in splitting a room, let me know. Unless the wife comes with you, of course. But she didnt seem to have much fun last time we dove together, and I dont think she would like the cold any more. Just let me know.

I'll be there both days, but will also be fairly busy, helping with an OW class and the Pumpkin carving contest.
See ya there,

Sure I remember you, though to be honest, I had never made the connection to your handle on the board. Good to hear from you. I won't be there Sunday, but it sounds like Bob and Ken will.

Sorry, Bob, I'd take you up on splitting a room but the wife is coming. We stay Friday nights in Marion and hit Mermet bright and early, too. She usually heads over to Paducah to burn up the plastic, and only seemed unhappy because you forgot the pizza.

I plan on being there around 8 AM. Since The Dive Shop of St. Louis has their pumpkin carve going on, maybe we should arrange a pavillion. Just a thought. This sounds like it is going to be a fun weekend.
That okay Ken. I plan on being at the Best Western Friday and Saturday night. Just understand this is not, and I repeat NOT a pizza event.

Bob,
There is a pumpkin carving sponsored by Mermet itself, not sure if they are the same. I just want to work with my new tanks. I'd probably carve myself instead of the pumpkin.
Also, you might want to pack some food, I doubt if the BBQ guy will be there. Pizza is nice.
I don't think we'll need a pavillion, and I'll check with Glen about the BBQ guy.

I'm easy. I will probably just bring as little something to nibble on throrugh the day, then have a good meal after the diving is done for the day. If we get a pavillion, great, if not, I can live with that as well.

Yes, same event. It is jointly sponsored by The Dive Shop, Great American Dive Co., and Mermet.

Yes, great viz. And the surface temp report has been lowered to 71 F, which I'm glad to see since I prefer to dive dry and will be spending time on the training platforms with OW students.
I seriously doubt that I'll be allowed to carve a pumpkin, probably will be a "professional" buddy for a newly minted "PADI SCUBA Diver".
But I promise to keep the pumpkin carvers out of the deep water, so stay there and we will NOT mess it up for ya!

Just got back home. I have my "dry" suit hanging upside down and inside out. Yes, flooded. I thought I would try and be like theskull and the DUI dry gloves. In my opinon, they are okay, but it sure makes it difficult to get ready. Once the dry suit it one, it is kind of hard to do the buckles, and most importantly, like I found out today, adjust the neck seal. I knew I was flooded 3 minutes into the dive. I finshed the dive 60 minutes later, but decided to call it a day. As always it was fun diving with Ken, and the magician Dennis. I call him the magician because he appears and disappears so quickly, it was like a magic show. Also got to get in a few dives with Steve yesterday as well. I've talk to him a few times, but that was my first dives with him. I also met Rob, but because of the dry suit issue, didnt get a chance to dive with him. All in all, it was another good weekend of diving.

At least you know you bought a good set of undergarments when you can remain comfortable in them wet for an hour in water that cold!
The Zip Dry Gloves do make it more awkward to get dressed, but I never even felt the cold on my deep dives this weekend. I did have my buddy check my neck seal both times since I couldn't really feel whether it was OK on my own.
I was happy to be able to dive with Rob twice today--what a stud, doing 115 ft. dives in 42 F water in a wetsuit. Good diver, too!
Only had time for 3 dives in addition to the OW class dives, so I sadly had to miss diving with the other great folks from this board who were there. I'm sure there will be many more opportunities in the coming months now that SCUBA classes are pretty much over for the season.

Actually, I just had on my sweat pants and sweat shirt. I put the "official" undergarments on, but before I could even get the dry suit on, I was starting to over heat and started feeling sick. So I ditched the Andy's undies and with the above mentioned. And yes, it was a cold dive.
